A part time, hybrid role as a Finance Assistant for a small sales office (turnover circa £5m) just outside Guildford.

We are looking for a part qualified or part qualified by experience Finance/Accounts Assistant to work 15 hours per week. You will be expected to be in the office a minimum of one day per week and when asked to attend. The remainder of the time you may work from home or the office as is your preference

The successful applicant will oversee a variety of tasks with a primary focus on credit control – roughly 60% of the role.

Main Tasks:

  • Credit Control
  • Maintaining customer accounts
  • Setting and reviewing credit limits
  • Sales Ledger management
  • Customer account reconciliations
  • All aspects of cashbook including bank postings and bank reconciliations
  • Stock control and maintenance of stock items
  • Reporting and analysis using the finance system and excel
  • Undertake monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting for Sales Ledger and Stock
  • Ad hoc reports as necessary for analysis/problem clarification
  • Assist in preparation of VAT returns
  • Assist in preparation of HMRC returns
  • Assist in preparation for annual audit

Person Specification

  • High level of numeracy and accuracy.
  • Knowledge and experience of accounts administration.
  • Good knowledge of Excel
  • Organised and structured
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and friendly manner
  • Discretion, trustworthiness and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to build good relationships
  • An ability to be a supportive and flexible finance team member.
  • A willingness to learn and help develop the Finance service.

Terms and Conditions

Starting salary: up to £28k FTE,  dependent on experience (pro rata for hours worked)

Hours: 15 hours in a 37.5 hour week – worked over a minimum of 3 days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), preferably over 5 days

Location: Hybrid

Holidays: Pro-rata of full-time 25 days

Notice Period: 4 weeks

Pension: 10% company contribution
