This well-established charity provides education and training for disadvantaged young people in North London and South Hertfordshire. This Finance Assistant reports to the Finance and Performance Manager, supporting them with expert financial advice to the Chief Executive, the Board and other managers in their financial planning, management and performance review.

The Role

To work closely with and support the Finance & Performance Manager and the wider Finance department team Tasks include (but not limited to);

Purchase ledger, aged creditors listing and reconcile supplier accounts.
Deal with incoming and outgoing posts for the finance department & filing.
Look at Aged Debtors listing including customer account reconciliations and chase late payments.
Prepare Monthly Bank reconciliations.
Set up weekly Bursary and Suppliers payments.
Monthly Management Accounts including depreciation and prepayments schedule reconciled, accruals calculation and journal, petty cash reconciliations, luncheon voucher reconciliation and journal.
Process Payroll including maintaining Sage HR.
Submit monthly/yearly returns to HMRC and all other statuary bodies.
Submission of pension returns to People’s Pension scheme including reconciliation.
Payroll journal + analysis.
Keep Peoples Pension details up to date.
Any other duties as required by the Finance & Performance Manager.

The Candidate


Professionally qualified or qualified by experience.
Experience and proven track record of developing and reporting on budgets, reporting on management accounts.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
Good communications skill and a team player.
Confident Excel skills and accounting software.


Use of Sage and Sage Payroll.
Experience in Educational/Third Sector.
Car Owner.


21 hours per week, open to flexibility. Please indicate preferred working pattern on application.
Hybrid working, part office based (Enfield), part remote.
Salary £40,000 FTE* (pro-rated to £24,000 actual)
24 days (pro-rated for part-time hours) plus Bank Holidays
Free parking.

*Full time equivalent – actual salary will depend on final hours agreed.
