This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Leadership Consultancy, in a new Business Development role. This is the first role of its kind in the business and an important role in the small team. If you have both a corporate and entrepreneurial background, with a strong network in FTSE 100/250 companies, this would be an exciting and flexible opportunity.
This business specialises in ‘bringing the outside world in’ for leaders, offering a tight portfolio of programmes targeting business leaders in FTSE 100/250 companies. Private sector clients typically have a multi-billion turnover and tens of thousands of employees, but some of the clients programmes enable smaller organisations (with turnovers of £1bn or less) to purchase.
They believe leaders learn best from leaders and seek to provide clients with world-class external inspiration, education, provocation and application required to drive change. Over the last 14 years they have taken thousands of leaders inside the boardrooms and shop floors of some of the worlds most admired organisations in Silicon Valley, China, India and Europe.
They also have a not for profit angle, and through their cross-subsidy model, they enable social entrepreneurs, charities and public sector leaders to participate in their programmes.
They are boutique organisation but they punch well above their weight: Apple, BBC, Alibaba, Southwest Airlines, LEGO, Netflix, Abcam, Natwest, Four Seasons, WWF, Pret a Manger, Virgin Money, Nike, and NBC Universal amongst many others, count amongst their clients, hosts and partners.
The purpose of this role is to add dedicated, skilled business development capability into the organisation. This is the first role of its kind in the business, having come about due to a consistent period of growth and with significant opportunities on the horizon for further expansion.
The business offers a variety of programmes and whilst the role requires focus on all the programmes, the most recent online programme has the potential to transform the business and scale-up significantly. Indeed, since inception of the new online programme 18 months ago the client has sold over £1.5m worth of subscriptions with no dedicated sales resource demonstrating its potential. Initially the candidate will almost exclusively focus on selling this programme.
The successful candidate will;
Connect with CPO’s/Heads of Talent/Leadership Teams of FTSE 100/250 companies, and MD’s/EVP’s/Presidents who buy direct.
Lead the end-to-end business development process, creating opportunities through the development of a personal network as well as fully leveraging opportunities created through the broader business development work of the team.
Generate leads, through initial prospect engagement, arrange exploratory meetings, and complete and close the sale. Support with admin, contracts etc will be provided.
Build long lasting relationships with senior level clients on a national and international scale.
The successful candidate must have significant proven experience selling into blue chip FTSE 100/250 companies and above.
They will need experience of professional services.
The ideal candidate will arrive with a ‘black book’ of existing contacts in the HR/Leadership space and/or Exec board level leaders.
It is essential that the successful candidate is a self-starter, with a solid understanding of the client base, a track record of success in their field!
You must also be a completer-finisher, with an agile mindset who will enjoy the buzz of working in a small but fast-moving business.
Hours: minimum of 3.5 days a week, but ideally 4 days per week.
The role is fully remote with occasional meetups in London or Buckinghamshire/home counties. Additionally, the client is happy to consider covering membership costs of club/space from which the candidate can work occasionally in addition to home.
They can offer flexibility regarding how the time is configured, but they do have a core operational meeting (held virtually) 1.30-3.00pm on Mondays and a Business Development meeting (virtual) 9.30-10.30am on Wednesday.
Salary: up to 75k FTE* (dependent on experience) with an OTE that could take the successful candidate well over £100k FTE*.This is uncapped.
