Our client is in the very early stages of investing in and setting up a trading platform for ‘Non-fungible tokens’, often referred to as NFTs, and crypto assets. This investment sector is rapidly growing and evolving as new players and experimental financial models emerge and these investors are aiming to be successful early-stage movers in the sector.
As a group of international investors with multiple other interests they seek an experienced business manager to take on the responsibility of setting up their UK operation.
The Business Manager will initially work closely with the managing investor to determine the organisation’s specific goals and launch plan and begin the creation of an operating plan and set of processes.
The short term goals of the business would be to recruit the core of the technical team, acquire a trading platform and create a brand for the business, as well as establish the day to day operation including systems, people management and administration and financial set-up.
The successful candidate
To be effective in the role the successful candidate will have senior team level experience in a start-up, scale-up or corporate innovation environment. This role requires a classic ‘plan and do’ skillset. They will have the experience and confidence to address all areas of business set-up and team building from a planning and executional perspective, handling many of the tasks personally in the early stages but understanding when to seek professional advice or acquire additional specialist support and resources.
Ideally, the Business Manager would have a background in finance or have good financial knowledge from a management perspective. Knowledge or experience in the technology or communications sectors would also be beneficial but the ability to ‘spin up’ an operation and their general capabilities and personality fit are the priority selection criteria for the role.
The role is offering a £65k – £70k pa basic salary. At this stage additional benefits beyond the statutory requires are to be defined and agreed. There is a great degree of flexibility, tailoring the hours and days to the requirements of the business and demands of the plan and will be home-based with some travel to meet partners, suppliers and employees as the business grows.
