The Role

Our client is looking for someone who is curious about their service proposition and clients. You will be tasked in this management role, as part of a supportive and ambitious team, in the delivery of marketing and business development (MBD) to:
i.bring about change to our events programme, innovating whilst ensuring we’re maximising the value it can return for the business;
ii.create an events environment that fosters long term client relationships, through strategic business development and marketing activities;
iii.contribute to raising the profile of the firm and it’s people across Europe and beyond: using events to put our client at the forefront of the narrative on market developments, trends and important themes, within the context of our core expertise areas;
iv.oversee a complex events programme designed to engage our clients target audience on an array of issues connected with competition, finance or regulation.
As part of the Marketing and Business Development team, you will be responsible for bringing about change to our events programme in a post-pandemic world. This will predominantly involve working closely alongside the Events Executive to implement end-to-end improvements to an existing and growing programme of events.
Practically this means taking the lead on process and behavioural change that will elevate the value of events in the marketing and business development mix.
Similarly, the role will involve working alongside consultants and Partners to educate them about the most effective strategy and approach to events.
You will also work alongside our clients managers in marketing, communication and business development to ensure all activities and initiatives are fully integrated.
•Review and assess the effectiveness of our clients approach to events from both an outcome and stakeholder perspective;
•Evaluate the success of individual events and events overall in terms of external impact;
•Introduce new approaches to events fit for our objectives and ambitions;
•Determine what a successful events team structure looks like for a business of our clients size and ambitions;
•Support on the management of large external corporate events;
•Guide the events executive and support team to deliver successful events, advising them on best practice and innovations.

The Candidate

•Be an experienced event manager who can bring about change;
•Be able to advise and influence senior stakeholders;
•A commercial and business-focussed mindset. Someone who is confident in developing and implementing strategy;
•Someone who is experienced at developing productive and effective relationships with all types of stakeholders, both internal and external. For example, partners and senior leaders, consultancy team members, partnering organisations such as law firms, associations and corporates, advisors and academics, influential speakers and event delegates, and operational team members.
•Creative flair and the ability to challenge traditional thinking and offer innovative ideas for the way we deliver, evaluate and improve event;
•Experience in change management and influencing stakeholders to make improvements to business success;
•Purposeful, clear and confident communication – an ability to listen and maximise the value from different perspectives from our colleagues;
•Comfortable under pressure with competing priorities and a keen eye for detail, while knowing when to confidently draw on others where needed – within the team and outside;
•You can challenge yourself and be comfortable in iteration coming from experience and feedback
•Opportunities for travelling, both in the UK and where required across Europe.
•You will have 3 years of relevant experience working in a similar managerial role, ideally within professional services.
•Wider knowledge and experience in marketing and business development, and the synergies between the specialisms.
•Very good interpersonal and communication skills—someone who enjoys building relationships and is experienced dealing with people across a range of backgrounds and skillsets.

The Terms

This is a maternity cover contract. A 12 month fixed term arrangement. Our client believes that the role works over 3 days per week with flexibility on the working pattern. A salary of up to £55K FTE* is available. The role can be worked across a mix of London, Oxford and remote, with it being essential that sometime be spent in either office. European travel will be required. Our client also offer;
