This role is working very closely with the Finance Director on all financial matters and is a unique opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the business.

There is huge opportunity for growth with regards to responsibility and with the business growing year on year you will have huge visibility across the business which will in turn allow you to excel and develop very quickly.

This role is for someone with the same entrepreneurial spirit as all Blurred team members!  Personality is extremely important for this role.  You will need to be comfortable with managing and challenging senior members of the team when necessary. In turn, the team will need to know you are approachable, and above all, produce work to the standard the FD produces currently, in a timely manner.

For this role we would like someone to have the required experience working in a similar role in a similar industry, it is important to understand how an agency environment works on a day-to-day basis.  We would ideally like you to come from a similar advisory / communications business.  This does not have to be agency side, you may come from client side, or an NGO or association.

Level of previous experience

Previous experience within a similar role preferred, ideally within a marketing/ creative/ communications business, but not imperative.

Core attributes The core attributes we look for:

  • Flexible and adaptable. The nature of our business means priorities change and we often need to be fluid in our approach.
  • A problem solver. We need you to be able to think for yourself and present solutions to any problems that you run into.
  • A team player. We only work well when we work together.
  • A grafter. Happy to get your hands dirty when needed.
  • Supportive. You’ll also be part of the team; a team that have a lot of pressures which you can help release by helping things run smoothly around them.
  • Entrepreneurial / commercially minded. We will never scrimp on things to the detriment of quality or need, but we run a tight ship on expenditure.
  • Finance systems. Paprika preferable not essential
  • It is imperative that you have the confidence and ability to be accountable for your tasks and overall role. Every member of the Blurred team takes pride in being accountable, this role requires the same.
  • Steel hand in velvet glove. Sometimes you’ll have to be tough with the team – if they procrastinate, you will need to push for information. We are looking for someone who can command respect, with a smile.
  • No nonsense. We are all nice people! We are building a team of people who care for one another as much as they care for the work they produce. We’re a relatively small, tight team, with no egos, no cliques, no nonsense. We’re growing fast but however big we get we want to always be packed to the brim with people that other people want to work with. Bring new ideas, new perspectives; we are all ears!

About Blurred

Our future is threatened by urgent environmental and societal risks. Every corporate and public citizen has the responsibility and capability to make a difference.

And the area where you have the greatest potential to do harm in the world is also the area where you have the greatest opportunity to do good.

Blurred is a strategic and creative advisory firm dedicated to that opportunity, delivering work with depth that drives positive impact for clients, people and the planet.

We blur the line between management, sustainability and communications consultancy, helping public and independent companies understand and address material ESG risks so that they can become a truly Purposeful force for good.

Our work is built on the principles of ESGP, because we believe no organisation can have a credible, effective Purpose without first understanding the impact of its business on the Environment, on Society, and in terms of Governance.

From advising on the most technical elements of ESG right through to delivering the most creative expressions of Purpose, we help businesses be better.

And then, as communication experts, we make sure that story is seen and heard by all audiences, from investors and employees to policy-makers and the public.

Reflecting our management, sustainability and communications consultancy expertise, we won Best New Management Consultancy at the Management Consultancies Association’s Management Consulting Awards 2022,  are a finalist for Consultancy of the Year at the EDIE Awards 2023 and we won Best Consultancy for Corporate and/or Financial Comms at PR Week’s Corporate, City & Public Affairs Awards 2023.  We were also placed number 1 in PR Week’s 2022 ESG league tables.

We are also proud to have been named Best Consultancy to Work for by PRovoke Media in 2022 and 2023.

But we’re perhaps most proud of what we do to walk the talk in terms of values.  We live our own purpose and values through the way we behave, from our public commitment to only work with companies making progress against the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, to being transparent about our commitment to diversity and reducing our own carbon footprint, to holding full Blueprint status (we’re extremely passionate about DEI), to holding Disability Confident level 2 certification and – finally – by being B Corps certified.

In short, we walk the talk, and we only recruit people ready to do the same.

In 2022, we transitioned from Blurred.london, to Blurred.global, as we believe our clients have complex problems that require different experience and world views that don’t come from one sector of society.

Finding diverse, global talent for us at Blurred is key to realising this vision.  We value a persons’ global experience, both personal and professional, and languages are of interest.  We actively seek people who are located across the globe.
