Our client is looking for a Financial Controller to look after all their operational day-to-day finance work as well as take a lead on some of the bigger picture thinking around how they work better. A newly created role, there is scope to shape the job in the early months.
Reporting to one of the Co-Founders, you'll be responsible for custody of the financial management and reporting systems and management of the monthly reporting processes including maintaining the company project management and reporting system. The role will:
Ensure that all financial transactions are processed, recorded, filed, and reported. This will include raising invoices, sending to clients and chasing when overdue, receiving supplier bills, reconciling them against projects and setting them up for payment, managing expenses, daily bank reconciliation on Xero as well as ad hoc enquiries on Xero
Support the company’s financial reporting, including the production of monthly management accounts and associated reports for Partners, preparing cashflow forecasts and helping to produce and submit annual forecasts and budgets
Manage all areas of company taxation (with the support of external accountants as required) including Corporation Tax, VAT, P11ds as well as planning and managing the annual audit and statutory accounts preparation
Manage the company payroll and determine whether this should be outsourced
Own the excel-based consultancy project management and reporting tool, supporting its use amongst the team and identifying improvements
Support the profitability of projects by helping understand their current and projected performance and working with the Consultants to understand what’s happening. Additionally offering support on improving profitability through involvement in commercial aspects such as pricing
Play a role in the wider management of the company, including developing and maintaining strong relationships with the consultants as well as with others responsible for aspects including operations, marketing and sales and assisting the CEO & CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Specific skills and experience include:
Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent or Qualified by Experience (QBE) with excellent financial reporting capabilities and experience
A good understanding of tax, payroll and general ‘operational’ finance management
Experience from a previous Management or financial accountant role
Good communication skills – written and verbal
High attention to detail with good organisational skills
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent Excel skills including data analysis and manipulation
Knowledge of Xero would be beneficial
Experience of working in projects-based or resource-based organisation such as a consultancy or other professional services
This role is part-time, requiring two days a week with a salary of £55,000 to £60,000 pa (FTE*). The working pattern is very flexible – for example it could be two fixed full days or spread across the week.
Our client believes it’s important for this person to spend some time in the office with the team (one or sometimes two days a week) to build relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the work. The office is very close to London Bridge station.
In addition to the salary and excellent flexibility a £1,000 annual personal development budget is offered together with 26 days holiday (FTE) and involvement in a series of company wellness and wellbeing initiatives.
*Please note the salary quoted is the Full Time Annual Equivalent, and the actual salary will dependent on hours agreed.
