Our client is a small but busy accountancy firm who are looking to grow. They provide bookkeeping, payroll and accountancy services to small and medium sized enterprises. They are currently looking for an experienced accountant to join their growing team.

They need someone who can bring not only great accounting skills, but who is also able to work well in a small business environment, and be willing to “muck in”. You will be a self-starter, comfortable working remotely and have experience of using a cloud-based accounting package.

Whilst this is a remote role, the successful candidate will need to live within an easily commutable distance to London for team meetings and initial training.

The Role

The role will require hands on involvement in all areas of the business including accounts preparation.

Preparation of annual accounts for limited companies (possibly some partnerships and sole traders).
Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns.
Production of management accounts.
Interaction with clients.
Prepare VAT returns.
The practice currently uses Xero.

Personal Specification

Fully qualified ACCA / ACA is essential (CIMA will be considered as long as the individual is able to meet the criteria below).
Minimum 5 years of recent practice experience.
A well-rounded knowledge of VAT treatment.
Employment related securities and venture capital relief experience is desirable.
Experience of working in a smaller practice in an "all-rounder" type role.
Comfortable using XERO. Alternatively, the candidate will need to complete a XERO training course prior to joining.
Strong client facing experience.
Excellent communication, verbal and written.
A self-starter, able to manage their own workload with limited supervision.
The successful candidate will be required to have a suitable home-office set-up.

Terms

Min 20 hours per week up to 35 hours per week. These are to be worked Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday.
Salary range up to £40k FTE (pro-rated for the reduced hours). Dependent on experience.
A laptop and VOIP will be provided.

Location

There will be a need to attend meetings in London, these are typically every month with perhaps an additional meeting from time to time (these will be planned in advance).
During the first 2-months, the successful candidate will be required to work in the office in London two days per week. After this the role is fully remote.
