This flexible and friendly Chartered Accountancy practice are looking for a Senior Accountant / Executive Client Manager. You will be a qualified accountant with great leadership skills and strong client handling experience.

Our Client

This Wiltshire based Chartered Accountancy practice are looking to appoint a strong client facing senior accountant who will be part of the leadership team. They need someone who can bring not only great accountancy and client relationship skills, but who is also able to work well in a small business environment, be willing to “muck in”, take the initiative and have some fun too. You’ll be a forward-thinking people person, interested in finding new ways of working and willing to embrace new technology.

The Role

Manage a portfolio of limited companies, charities, sole traders and individuals of varying sizes and sectors, including quoting for work and all billing decisions.
Ultimate responsibility for client relationships, first point of client contact and provision of full overview across all service areas.
Manage and motivate team members from trainees (ACA, ACCA apprentices) to qualified and qualified by experience.
Direct the workflow from your own portfolio and the workflow of team members including liaison with other portfolio holders to meet filing deadlines with HMRC, Companies House and Charities Commission. Allocation of resources based on skills and complexity of work.
Timely review of statutory accounts, corporation tax computations, personal tax returns and VAT returns prepared by your team.
Consultancy work on an ad hoc basis to meet client needs. Including, but not limited to, tax planning, restructuring and software/system solutions.
Preparation of Capital Gains Tax returns and calculations.
Liaison and resolution of issues with HMRC.
Liaison with other members of the Practice to share & gain knowledge and to provide solutions to clients within the wider group.
Training support for team members on apprenticeship schemes. Liaison with training providers and counsellor role for professional bodies.
Internally, a member of the senior leadership team: identifying & implementing improvements for internal efficiencies and compliance, sharing of knowledge and maintaining standards & consistency in the practice’s work.

The Candidate

It is essential you have experience of handling multiple clients from a practice background.
ACCA/ACA qualified (essential).
Strong communication skills.
Excellent leadership skills – an ability to take your team with you.
Accurate, with an excellent eye for detail, and an enquiring mind.
Proficient and confident with IT, able to pick up new software quickly and an interest in the latest cloud-based software for accountants.
Personal qualities include diplomacy and emotional intelligence.

The Terms

Minimum 30 hours per week (these may be worked across 4 full days or spread across 5 days) or full-time.
Whilst your team is based mainly in the Devizes office, there will be the opportunity to work remotely, and/or use other offices (Rural South Gloucester, Sutton Benger or Holt). However, given the management nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to work in Devizes at least twice a week (more in the first few weeks of the role).
