each year. Doing this requires us to collaborate with others across the legal services sector, and the Communications and Engagement Associate is central to achieving our ambition.
Working with teams across the organisation, you will support integrated communications and engagement activities, particularly events, internal communications and communications
planning. With strong writing skills and attention to detail, you are proactive and creative and excited by the prospect of making a real difference for people who need legal services
through targeted, effective engagement.

Main responsibilities

Communications and digital

  • Create, commission and schedule compelling content across multiple formats and channels, including social media posts, website copy, blog articles, and press materials
  • Help maintain the LSB website and Reshaping Legal Services microsite, ensuring content is up-to-date and accessible
  • Assist with basic content creation and editing
  • Draft press releases and media materials
  • Analyse, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of our content and channels

Media relations and monitoring

  • Conduct daily media monitoring to identify relevant stories and issues
  • Support parliamentary monitoring related to the organisation’s work

Internal communications

  • Support intranet management and content updates
  • Assist with planning colleague events and away days

Stakeholder engagement

  • Support the preparation and delivery of stakeholder meetings and events, including, the annual conference
  • Assist with research on stakeholders and events
  • Help prepare briefing materials for stakeholder engagement events
  • Draft routine correspondence under supervision

Person specification Essential:

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and formats (social media, web content, press materials)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, engaging first drafts across various content types
  • Strong attention to detail in writing, editing and proofreading
  • Understanding of plain English principles and accessible writing techniques
  • Experience creating content for digital platforms, with awareness of how different formats and audiences require different approaches
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital communication
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to research and understand information from various sources
  • Experience of supporting events, meetings or projects (this could include voluntary work, internships, or educational projects)
  • Willingness to learn about stakeholder engagement and correspondence
  • Enthusiasm for learning new areas of work and managing competing priorities
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with colleagues at all level
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and discretion

Desirable:

  • Some knowledge of legal services or regulation
  • An appreciation of the workings of the legal services sector and an understanding of consumer protection concerns would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Interest in or awareness of how artificial intelligence and generative AI tools can be applied responsibly in modern communications and engagement work
  • Understanding of the opportunities and considerations around AI-assisted content creation, audience analysis, or campaign planning
  • Knowledge of ethical AI principles and responsible implementation in professional communications contexts

Benefits
35 hours per week with a competitive salary, a defined contribution pension scheme with an employer’s contribution of 12-13% of salary, benefits allowance and an annual leave entitlement of 25 days in addition to statutory bank holidays.

Salary: Circa £40K Plus 10% flexible benefits allowance.
