A specialist lending business is seeking a Finance Director to take ownership of its finance function at an important stage of growth. The firm provides alternative credit to fast-growing European SMEs and operates across multiple lending vehicles.
This is a broad, standalone leadership role on a flexible, part-time basis (3–4 days per week), with the opportunity to grow as the business scales. You will establish robust financial processes and support the continued scaling of the platform, working closely with the senior team and reporting into the leadership of the business.
Responsibilities
Core Finance
- Establish and maintain robust accounting across the group, including multiple lending entities across UK and European jurisdictions
- Own monthly management accounts, including cash flow forecasting and performance reporting
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping (via outsourced support), including reconciliations and controls
- Manage the external financial reporting process, corporate tax and VAT returns
- Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle
- Liaise with auditors and manage the annual audit process
- Work with the technology team to automate data flows from the lending platform into the accounting environment
- Review and implement loan impairment and provisioning policies
Stakeholder Interaction
- Support reporting and interactions with external funding line providers
- Ensure financial information is clear, timely, and decision-useful for internal and external stakeholders
Investor Relationship Management
- Support periodic investor reporting, including fund performance updates, NAV reporting, and capital call and distribution notices
- Act as a point of contact for investor queries on financial and portfolio matters, escalating where appropriate
- Prepare and maintain investor-facing materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity of financial information
- Assist with fundraising-related financial reporting and due diligence processes as required
Role Development
The role is intentionally broad and sits close to the core of the business. While the primary responsibility is to build and run a high-quality finance function, there will be opportunities for exposure to wider aspects of the platform over time, including:
- Lender and investor reporting
- Structuring of new facilities or products
- Broader commercial and strategic discussions
The extent of this will naturally depend on the individual’s interests and strengths.
Profile
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Strong technical grounding in accounting and financial controls
- Experience in audit or financial services (funds / credit experience beneficial but not required)
- Comfortable operating in a small, high-responsibility environment
- Organised, detail-oriented, with sound judgment and a willingness to take ownership
