Role: Freelance Sales Lead – FWP Directory (Short-Term Project)

This is a project-based freelance role. Our goal is to reach 80-100 directory listings, so this is not intended as a long-term or permanent position.

Commitment: 8 hours per week, worked flexibly across 2–3 days (school-hours friendly)

Rate: £150 per week + 10% commission on all sales

Location: Remote (UK-based preferred)

Start: Immediate

Purpose of the Role

To proactively recruit relevant businesses into the FWP Directory by identifying leads, contacting decision-makers, and selling annual directory listings (Basic £250 / Premium £500). Premium slots are limited to 2 per category, giving you a strong exclusivity angle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Generation & Prospecting

Build and maintain a pipeline of relevant businesses across multiple categories including (we will also share warm leads and suggested targets, so it won’t all be cold outreach):

  • Franchises
  • Career coaches
  • Business support providers
  • Training & upskilling platforms
  • Financial wellbeing services
  • Returner programmes
  • VA and admin support services
  • Wellbeing & family-focused providers

2. Outreach & Engagement

  • Conduct proactive outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn
  • Send tailored messages using our template library
  • Build rapport and open conversations with founders, marketing leads, and business owners

3. Sales Calls & Conversion

  • Run short discovery/intro calls (10–15 minutes)
  • Present the Directory and benefits
  • Sell both Basic and Premium listings
  • Use exclusivity (only 2 premium spots per category) to drive urgency
  • Close sales and capture payment via our standard process

4. Pipeline & Reporting

  • Track leads and conversations in a simple CRM or shared tracker
  • Provide weekly activity and performance updates
  • Maintain accurate notes, statuses, and follow-up actions

5. Onboarding New Listings

  • Gather listing information from new partners
  • Liaise with the FWP team to ensure listings go live smoothly
  • Upload each listing into our WordPress system (full training provided)

About You

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Have proven experience in business development and B2B sales
  • Are confident generating your own leads, nurturing conversations, and converting them into paid customers
  • Understand the flexible working, coaching, franchising, HR, or talent landscape — ideally having sold into these types of businesses before
  • Can bring insight, networks, and an understanding of the market to help shape who we target and how we position the Directory
  • Are proactive, persuasive, and comfortable reaching out to founders, coaches, franchise owners, and small business leaders
  • Are commercially minded, results-driven, and motivated by both purpose and commission
  • Work independently and manage your time effectively across 2–3 short days per week
  • Bonus experience: recruitment, coaching, training, HR/people functions, franchises, or selling partnerships.
