Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work, build strong client relationships and enjoy genuine flexibility around your working week?

Our client is a well-established professional services firm with a small, friendly team of around 26 people and a supportive, family-oriented culture. They are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to manage a portfolio of client payrolls from start to finish.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical payroll knowledge who enjoys client contact and wants a role with plenty of responsibility, but with the flexibility to work reduced hours.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for managing client payrolls from start to finish, providing an accurate, responsive and professional service while ensuring deadlines are consistently met.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing a portfolio of client payrolls from start to finish
Processing payrolls accurately and efficiently across multiple deadlines
Acting as a key point of contact for clients, responding to queries and providing payroll guidance
Ensuring payrolls comply with current UK legislation
Keeping up to date with legislative changes and advising clients where relevant
Liaising with HMRC, pension providers and other third parties as required
Managing payroll records and ensuring information is accurate and up to date
Building strong, trusted relationships with clients
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider team
About You

You’ll be an experienced payroll professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a busy client portfolio and managing competing deadlines.

You’ll ideally bring:

Strong end-to-end payroll experience
Good technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation
Experience working with multiple client payrolls, ideally within an accountancy practice, payroll bureau or similar environment
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Confidence communicating directly with clients
Strong organisational and time-management skills
The ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
A proactive and helpful approach to client service
Experience of BrightPay would be beneficial, but isn’t essential
The Flexibility

This is a 28-hour-per-week role, equivalent to four days of a standard 35-hour working week.

There is flexibility around how you work those hours. You could work four days per week, or spread your hours across five shorter days if that suits you better.

The role is predominantly office-based in the Tonbridge area with one day per week available to work from home.

Salary & benefits

£30,000–£35,000 actual salary for 28 hours (£37,500–£43,750 FTE)
28 hours per week, worked over four or five days
One day per week working from home
25 days’ holiday FTE plus bank holidays
Holiday buy-back scheme
Free onsite parking
Small, friendly team
Supportive, family-oriented working environment
If you’re an experienced payroll professional looking for a role where you can use your expertise, build strong client relationships and work in a genuinely flexible way, we’d love to hear from you.
